Loogootee Woman Arrested in Bedford After Allegedly Entering Home, Claiming She Thought She Was in Washington
A Loogootee woman faces felony and misdemeanor charges in Bedford after residents reported her attempting to break into a vehicle and entering a home uninvited. When confronted by law enforcement, the woman was severely disoriented, testing positive for methamphetamine possession and claiming she believed she was in a different county.
Kacrissa Jo Salmon, 34, was arrested on the evening of June 22, 2026, by the Bedford Police Department.

Erratic Behavior on 33rd Street
At approximately 7:28 p.m., Sergeant Nick Crulo responded to the 2200 block of 33rd Street following reports of a woman with dark hair, wearing a gray shirt and black shorts, attempting to enter a neighbor's vehicle. While the officer was en route, a second emergency call came in stating the same female was aggressively knocking on a door at a nearby home.
Sgt. Crulo located the suspect sitting in a chair outside a residence. When questioned, she initially provided a false name, identifying herself as "Kacrissa Lintz". Computer checks returned no records under that name, but the woman eventually surrendered an Indiana driver's license confirming her true identity as Salmon.
Severe Disorientation and Black Paint
Officers noted that Salmon's physical movements were incredibly rapid and unpredictable, and both of her legs were completely covered in black paint.
Salmon demonstrated severe geographical confusion during the interview. She insisted to the responding officer that she was currently at her father's house in Washington, Indiana—located more than 30 miles away. She had no idea she was in the city of Bedford and could not explain how she arrived there, noting only that she had been camping in Daviess County the previous night. Due to her erratic behavior, an ambulance was dispatched to the scene to conduct a medical evaluation.
Voluntary Methamphetamine Disclosure
While waiting for the arrival of emergency medical personnel, Sgt. Crulo observed an anomalous, large bulge protruding from Salmon’s front right pocket. When asked what was inside, Salmon reached into her pocket and voluntarily pulled the items out to show the officer.
Among the items was a clear, zip-top plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance. Upon realizing she had exposed the narcotics to the officer, Salmon immediately became highly erratic and began talking rapidly. The baggie was seized and later field-tested positive for methamphetamine. IU Health EMS arrived shortly after, evaluated Salmon, and determined she was not in immediate medical danger.
The Uninvited Back-Door Guest
As the narcotics investigation was being completed, a third resident contacted police dispatch to report a residential entry.
The victim informed officers that Salmon had walked onto her property, opened her back door, and walked directly into the house without permission. The homeowner stated that Salmon did not knock and simply stood inside the residence staring at her before eventually walking back outside.
When read her Miranda warnings, Salmon denied trying to break into any vehicles but claimed she had knocked before entering the residence. She was booked into the Lawrence County Jail.
