Rehab Facility Employee Arrested After K9 Stop and Search Warrant Uncover Ghost Gun, Meth, and Fentanyl ๐จ๐
A 35-year-old Bedford man faces a barrage of high-level felony charges after law enforcement uncovered a massive stash of prepackaged methamphetamine, fentanyl pills disguised as clinical medication, and an unserialized "ghost gun" rifle during a coordinated drug interdiction operation.

Evan Boehner was arrested on Thursday, June 4, 2026, following a joint investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriffโs Department and the Bloomington Police Department.
Dealing Out of a Rehabilitation Center
The investigation was launched after a cooperative source contacted detectives regarding active drug distribution. The source provided text messages showing that Boehner was offering to sell methamphetamine and explicitly stated that transactions could be conducted either at his residence or directly at his workplaceโthe Indiana Center for Recovery in Bedford, a local drug rehabilitation facility.
Detectives coordinated with Bloomington authorities, who confirmed that Boehner had a documented history of narcotics distribution. Late into the evening of June 3, shift supervisors initiated physical surveillance on Boehner as he departed the rehabilitation center in a 2024 Honda HR-V.
The Traffic Stop & K9 Boon Alert
After monitoring the vehicle's movements across town, deputies initiated a traffic stop on Tunnelton Road after clocking Boehner traveling 45 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.
Deputy Kenton Carter and his K9 partner, Boon, arrived to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle. After K9 Boon gave a positive alert on the rear driver's side door, Boehner was read his Miranda rights. He immediately admitted to deputies that a bag of methamphetamine and a syringe were concealed between the driver's seat and the center console. The narcotics were recovered, Boehner was detained, and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
Raiding the Central Avenue Residence
Following the traffic stop, deputies converged on Boehner's residence at 1811 Central Avenue. A 20-year-old female resident answered the door, cooperated with investigators, and admitted that large quantities of methamphetamine were hidden inside the home. She also disclosed that Boehner had instructed her to hide a firearm case under a bed. She was detained after officers discovered a small baggie of methamphetamine inside her purse.
A formal search warrant was granted by Judge Gouty and executed at the residence. The physical search uncovered an extensive drug distribution operation and a dangerous weapon cache:
- Methamphetamine: Officers seized a total of 63 grams of crystal methamphetamine. A portion of the drugs was found in an upstairs room, while another large batch was found downstairs prepackaged into pink-tinted bags marked with individual gram weights for immediate sale.
- Fentanyl & Amphetamines: Next to the packaging station, officers recovered 110 blue round pills that Boehner had previously claimed were part of a clinical study for hair loss. Field tests confirmed the pills were actually fentanyl. Two pink amphetamine pills were also seized.
- The "Ghost Gun": In the main upstairs bedroom, detectives unlocked a plastic rifle case and recovered an AR-style rifle featuring completely missing serial numbers, alongside a black magazine filled with .223 caliber ammunition.
- Paraphernalia: A total of 16 hypodermic syringes were collected throughout the home, along with digital scales covered in residue, a broken glass pipe, and plates containing narcotic residue.
Serious Violent Felon Status
Because Boehner has a prior felony conviction for Dealing in Methamphetamine out of Monroe County from April 2021, he is legally classified as a Serious Violent Felon, significantly enhancing his weapons offenses.
Boehner was transported to the Lawrence County Jail and remanded to the custody of the facility staff.
